Post COVID-19 Syndrome

COVID Haulers

Tens of thousands of people have lingering illness despite seemingly recovering from Covid-19. Patients complain that weeks after recovering from covid most worst symptoms, they don't feel themselves.

People complain of lack of energy, physical fatigue, exhaustion, forgetfulness, aches, trouble concentrating and mental fog, to name a few. This individuals are referred to as “Covid-19 long-haulers”.

Some 10%, up to 70%  of these patients continue to experience these symptoms months after, even after tests no longer detect virus in their body, developing a condition coined “Post Covid-19 Syndrome”.

The most common symptoms seems to be FATIGUE, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, INABILITY TO EXERCISE, HEADACHES, DIFFICULTY SLEEPING.

We can’t predict who will become a “long hauler”.  But it seems that a few facts are common to them. Some are people over 50 years old, those with two to three chronic illness, although this is not always the case as young people have also been identified as long haulers.

Long Haulers fall into two groups;

Those who experience permanent damage to their lungs, kidneys, and or brain.

Those who continue to experience debilitated symptoms despite no detectable damage to these organs.

Dr Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has speculated that many of of the people of the second group will develop a condition called “ Myalgic encephalomyelitis/Chronic fatigue syndrome or ME/CFS

This  ME/CFS can also be trigger by other infectious illness such as mononucleosis, Lyme disease, and severe acute respiratory syndrome or SARS.

The speculation is that these infectious condition trigger an autoimmune condition in which the body makes antibodies that attack the organs, or a prolong inflammatory response  which ultimately describes their symptoms.

Common symptoms:

  • Fatigue

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Joint pain

  • Check pain

  • Brain fog, Impaired memory

  • Loss of taste and smell

  • Difficulty sleeping

These can persists 6 months or longer.

What can be done for these patients is first recognize that its not in your head, and in fact your immune system is being triggered challenged and you need help repairing it.

The following are a few things to consider:

  • Continue to take immune supporting supplements and seek treatments to support your immune recovery.

  • Covid cocktail of Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, Minerals, Vitamin B’s. IV Infusion therapy can be very helpful and supportive.

  • Oxygen therapy with Ozone administration and or Hyperbaric treatments.

Seek medical care from healthcare team that can guide you through these alternatives and more.
